How does compression without upload work?
The browser itself contains JPEG, WebP and PNG encoders. This tool re-encodes with them and binary-searches the quality setting until the file fits your target size — all on your CPU.
Will quality drop a lot?
The tool finds the highest quality that fits your target. For typical photos, 200–500 KB is visually indistinguishable from the original.
Can I compress below 100 KB?
Yes, set any target. Very small targets may also reduce resolution automatically to stay sharp.
